Spring Break Part 2

One of the nights we were able to roast marshmallows in the back yard. We had pretty cold weather the whole time Jeff and Wendy were visiting, so we snuck this in between the rain one night. Check out the marshmallows in that first picture. Can you see the size difference? The one on the right is a regular (large – not mini) marshmallow. We found the ones on the left at a craft store (of all the strange places to find HUGE marshmallows). And if I can quote Wendy, “they’re like five times the size, and five times the grossness.” This may not be exactly word for word, but you get the idea.

Spring Break Part 1 – A Current Post!

We were lucky enough to have Jeff and Wendy and their family visit us for a few days during our spring break! It was the only thing our kids could talk about once we learned they were coming. We all had such a great time together. We just hung out and did stuff during the days, and played cards at night. So I have a few days of posts to show some of what we did while we were together.

First, we all went to an Easter Egg Hunt at the park by our house. It was put on by our ward’s Primary. And since I’m in the Primary, I was part of the group that organized it. Instead of stuffing 1000 eggs with candy, we just let the kids collect empty eggs, then they turn those in for a bag of candy. So here are the kids and I preparing about 100 bags of candy. I can’t tell how hard it was for the kids to see all that candy and not be able to eat it! But they were amazing helpers.

These are just some pictures of the actual hunt. I think they all had a good time, and they were finally able to eat the candy!

Pumpkin Carving

Can you believe it’s pumpkin season again? Just kidding, you know this is still from last fall. Anyway, so these pictures are not that amazing in and of themselves. But what is so awesome is that we grew these pumpkins in our own yard!

Have you seen those kids cups of seeds at Lowe’s or Home Depot? They’re $0.99 and you can usually pick between pumpkins, watermelons and sunflowers. We’ve tried them all over the last few years, but last year the pumpkin plant just grew like nothing else!

I didn’t really have a spot picked out for planting pumpkins so I just stuck it in the ground by our raspberries (which are on the side of the house in the front yard). They grew around the side and into the front so that when you looked at the house you could see our beautiful orange pumpkin blossoms, and eventually our amazing pumpkins. The kids became experts at pollinating those flowers.

We had so much fun watching them grow!  I think we ended up with 4 large pumpkins and a few smaller ones. I can hardly wait to start growing them again this year and see what we get.

You know I’m cool! (still last fall)

This is Spencer. He got himself all ready for a bike ride. As every rider knows, you have to look good when you go out. He’s of course shoeless. He has on his favorite rainbow beanie (thanks Grandma Fullmer)! And if you look closely you will see that his scarf is packed nicely behind his seat. He is so ready to go.

Are you lookin’ at me?”

2009-10-28a 105

I said, are you lookin’ at me? Why are you lookin’ at me? And taking my picture too?

2009-10-28a 107

I am so out of here.”

Oh wait. He didn’t really say that. But it made me laugh anyway.

The Boise Temple

Last fall we went and visited our temple here in Boise (well, we’ve gone many times, but these pictures are from the fall).

Emma was so cute. She regularly has paper and pencil with her so she can draw, or take notes, or make journal entries. And there’s Ben with the flowers. These pictures represent them perfectly.

This is one of Adam’s favorite parts of the architecture of our temple. We have many pictures of these arches.

Awe, what cute kids.

Daddy’s Helpers

Adam was working on replacing our faucet in the kitchen. Of course the boys had to help.

Spencer is getting his work face on. “Don’t mess with me. I’m tough!”

2009-10-28a 095

Oh wait, this is my real work face.” And that is really how quickly he can go from grumpy to happy (and visa versa).

What good helpers! I’m sure this project was completed much quicker because of Ben and Spencer’s assistance.

Good work strong boy! I sure love my guys.

Emma and Her Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Last summer Adam and I took Emma to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. There is a small local theater company here called the Starlight Mountain Theater. During the summer they put on a few musicals in the mountains in an outdoor theater. Emma loves musicals, and especially Joseph, so we were excited for this chance. Unfortunately we didn’t take many pictures (sorry).

Here’s Emma (cheesy grin included) eating out on our trip. I think she really liked having Mom and Dad all to herself for a little while.

Here’s Adam and Emma waiting for the show to start. Take a close look at Emma’s coat! When we were visiting my parents last summer I had told my mom that we were going to go see Joseph later in the summer. And so she made Emma her very own technicolor coat! What an amazing mom! Emma absolutely loved it! I wanted so badly to get a picture of Emma and Joseph together after the show, but she was not going for that idea. Oh well. We still had such a great time.

Our Photographer

Ben really likes taking pictures, or at least just using the camera. So it cracks me up when we come across a whole string of pictures on the camera that we’ve never seen, and which usually don’t make any sense.

Of course there is usually a self portrait (or many).

You’ll notice a few feet pictures. I guess that’s a nice close subject for him to photograph. And then a bunch of just random other pictures. It’s fun for me to see what he thinks is interesting.

I’m glad the family will pose for him when he comes around.
