Family Pictures

Before Christmas we took some family pictures. We decided to go to Adam’s work to do this. Emma took this picture for us as we were walking up to the Capitol Building.

The kids always love going to Adam’s work. It’s big, it’s beautiful, there are four different levels with stairs and elevators, there are cool places to explore, and there are even secret passages.

Each Christmas season a Poinsettia “tree” is put up in the rotunda of the Capitol Building. It’s maybe 20 feet tall (I’m really bad at estimating things like that, so I could be totally wrong). Also, I have silly kids.

A few pictures

I have some random pictures that I wanted to post. I had planned to do them as separate posts, but obviously that hasn’t happened! Here’s Sydney getting a bath. She looks so different with her hair slicked down. She loves when I put the wash cloth on her chest – it keeps her warm. She always smiles at me when I do. She loves her bath, which is good since she regularly smells like old milk from all her spitting up. (She also loves to eat and often over-eats. Thus the spitting up.)

Ben is our outdoorsman. He loves doing things outside. So it was no surprise when he wanted to go out and play in the snow one day (even though the snow was a couple of days old and it had become pretty stiff by then). I checked on him every so often and watched him making a great snow man. I honestly thought the snow was too icy.

Each time I checked on him, there were more snowmen in the yard. I took him some carrots for noses, but the snow was too hard to keep them in place. You can see here four large snowmen, and there are a couple more out of view. Eventually he started making small ones (about 1 foot tall). All in all there were around 15. He was out there for a while, but he had so much fun! I love my out-doors kid!

I debated whether I should post this, but…I wanted to. And I could use a good laugh today. The other day I was trying to clean up a little. We have a cedar chest/bench by our front door that the kids keep their winter/school gear on. I noticed that it was out from the wall a little too far, so I pushed on it to put it back into place, and it didn’t budge. I looked behind it and saw a small ball back there. I pulled the chest out a little so I could reach the ball. As I did so I noticed another small toy or two. So I pulled the bench all the way out to get anything else that had gotten trapped under there. Here’s what I found…

Yes, that is a piece of french toast. Don’t be too jealous. :)

Sydney

It’s high time I post more pictures of our sweet Sydney!

2010-12-23 058

I just love her little face! She is growing up so much. She is now just over 3 months old.

2010-12-23 073

And notice her new trick she learned – smiling! They were slow to come at first, but she’s making up for lost time. Everyone loves to try and make her smile. It is so fun to watch the kids talk to her and try to get a reaction from her.

2010-12-23 074

How do you like that hair? No, I don’t purposefully spike it. It does that all on it’s own. She is so mod!

 2010-12-23 042

At her two month appointment, she weighed 8lbs. 10 oz. And her jaundice is now almost completely gone. Yay!

2010-12-23 076

She often makes this face. It’s a cute little happy smirk. It makes me laugh!

2010-12-23 075

This is how Sydney likes to be held. In this funny, squishy football kind of hold. There are so many new things to see and she doesn’t want to miss any of them!

2010-12-23 082

And yes, I kiss that beautiful little face as often as possible!

Snow Day!

About a month ago (or somewhere around there) we had a great snow storm come through which left us with a ton of snow (well at least for Boise). So the kids got to stay home from school and have a snow day! Emma had a snow day in Kindergarten (3 years ago), but I’ve heard that Boise usually has about one snow day per decade. I also heard that this was the biggest storm here since 1994 (or something like that). I know, I’m really accurate. I always blame it on Mommy Brain.

2010-12-12 058

The kids played outside for hours. It was a perfect day for them. The snow was just the right wetness for packing, and the temperature outside was actually pretty warm.

2010-12-12 060

Spencer mostly stayed on the deck. I think he was afraid of getting stuck in the yard. Do you see how deep that snow is?!

2010-12-12 056

Even Tiger had to get in on the action!

Thanksgiving?

I’m a little behind on blogging lately, so here’s Thanksgiving! Adam’s parents braved the terrible weather and traveled across the state so we could all be together! Judy and Megan (and probably John too) prepared all the food! That was so nice for me since Sydney was still pretty little. Then we all ate at our house. The kids made turkey-hand name tags for everyone (you can see them on the table).
